Heskins H3418 HandrailGrip Non-Abrasive Anti-Slip Handrail Grip Tape
Heskins H3418 HandrailGrip is a non-abrasive, self-adhesive anti-slip tape developed specifically for handrails. Handrails on stairs, ramps, walkways and access platforms are often smooth metal that is slippery when wet and cold to the touch; UK Building Regulations (Part M1 and M2) state that handrails should be slip-resistant and not cold to the touch. H3418 solves both problems in one product: an embossed, dimpled plastic film surface gives a secure grip, while the film itself acts as an insulator between the hand and the cold rail. Heskins describes it as the world's only self-adhesive anti-slip HandrailGrip material.
The tape has the feel of rubber with the dimensional stability of a plastic. A PET layer is laminated under the grip film and the construction is 1.11 mm thick once applied. Because it is non-abrasive it can be cleaned with all normal cleaning methods, and because it does not retain water it can be used on external as well as internal handrails. The tape is wrapped around the rail in a spiral: clean the rail, cut the strip to length, peel the liner, wrap and apply pressure. Large flat sheets should not be used on a rail because the film tends to return to its flat state and lift. Heskins can supply angled strips or cut the tape to a width that matches the rail circumference.
H3418 holds JAR 25.853 aviation fire approval for use inside aircraft. For a thinner handrail surface, Heskins offers its Resilient range in black or yellow. Made in the UK by Heskins.
