STROVOLT WT20 Tungsten Electrode 2% Thoriated Red Tip 2.4 x 175 mm (Pack of 10)
The STROVOLT WT20 tungsten electrode is a 2% thoriated electrode for DC TIG (GTAW) welding. It starts the arc easily, holds a stable arc on DC electrode negative, and carries more current than pure tungsten of the same diameter. The ground point keeps its shape, which gives a focused arc and a narrow, controlled weld bead.
Each electrode is 2.4 mm in diameter and 175 mm long (3/32" x 7") with a ground finish. The grade is classified WT20 to ISO 6848 and EWTh-2 to AWS A5.12, with 1.8 - 2.2 % thorium oxide, and is identified by the red tip.
Use it for carbon and low-alloy steel, stainless steel, nickel alloys, titanium and copper alloys. As a guide, the 2.4 mm size is used at about 150 to 250 A on DC electrode negative.
The electrodes are supplied in a hang-tab case of 10 pieces with a clear lid, which keeps them clean and straight and leaves the colour code visible.
Safety: WT20 contains thorium oxide. Use dust extraction when grinding the tip and do not inhale the dust.
